Fill- Challenge 421 (DW/BF)

Charley  covered her mouth, stifling a giggle.  " Doctor, I do declare. Sometimes you just find new ways to astound me."

She watched the corner of the room  in which a small Christmas tree emerged slowly;  each second a new branch forming.

The Doctor grinned. " Well, I thought it was time I give you a proper Christmas.  Hopefully, a little better than the last one with---" He trailed off.

Charley nodded. "How could I forget? When one is responsible for a living house, one tends to remember.   So, we have a tree. Should we decorate it, or will the TARDIS do that itself?"

The Doctor stroked his chin in thought. " If I remember correctly, I have some bins of decorations somewhere. Up for helping me find them, Miss Pollard?"

---

Within  an hour, the Doctor and Charley rifled through bins upon bins of decorations. Some simple things like tinsel and snowflakes, some garish like a lime green glowing star, and some that looked old enough to have been used by King Henry VIII.   The tree had now grown to at least  four feet tall, enough to put a star atop it.

"Oh! I found some lights! " Charley called,  hands full with  tangled colourful strings,  some already sparking to life . " They look a bit worse for wear. And this one" She held up a string of all red. "  Is burned out."

The Doctor took the lights in hand, Charley watching his every move. "Only one thing for it..." He reasoned, placing the lights on the floor before searching his pockets.  He waved his empty hand in dismay.  " How odd, I thought I had the sonic screwdriver."

"You did."  Charley ran a hand over the lights. " In the console room this morning."
