I spent some time this weekend on one of my long-standing WIPs, but not actually writing. I was doing some research and transcribing some written notes to electronic form. I don't really have anything share-able, but I did actually spend my ten-minutes-a-day.

I spent a couple weeks beating around pedigree charts for six characters because they are the 5th generation of a small group that had been exiled/isolated and I went down the rabbit hole of figuring out how everyone is related (or not) to each other. It wasn't very productive on the word count, but it helped settle things out and, hey! I have a giant stack of names now.

My roundabout way of saying I hear you on working on "background" things that allow you to move forward more confidently.
