Fill: Challenge #179 (DW)

Oh yes, I know the episode, and I'm pretty sure I know the author of that snippet. Here's my version.

So there I was, lying on a rickety straw bed, too narrow by half, next to an alien! I couldn't even think, much less sleep! I'd been on the moon - the actual moon - just hours before, running from space rhinos. Then the worst birthday do ever, and then I'm meeting bloody Shakespeare in the sixteenth century!

But that wasn't the worst of it. The Doctor lay next to me, stared into my eyes even, but he'd no clue the effect he had. Sure, he's gorgeous, but more than that, he's... Ooo, I can't explain it. Maybe the word's "alive". He's more alive than anyone I'd ever seen. He can't help but snare you from the start - and he'd no idea he'd done it.

So, no, sleep was furthest from my mind, and I hoped beyond hope that I wasn't already asleep and this had all been a dream.

(I tried to write this like Martha would actually speak if she were recounting her adventures to another person, so the tenses are deliberately a bit wonky. I wanted to do this as a drabble, since BK's stuff is always 100 words exactly, but it came out to nearly 150, no way to cut out half of the words without losing all of the meaning.)

Yes you're right on both!

And I like your version. It does sound like Martha.
