Helped me re-write a scene and technically I'm still poking at it, but this bit is 920 words so we'll let it rest at that!
Couple notes: Hafitch is a title.
Tafa and Bema are "Dad" and "Mom" respectively
The trio turned down another hallway. There was a single lamp lit near the end with two people illuminated underneath it seated on either side of one of the many doors that lined the walls. The one closest to them noticed their approach first and stood abruptly.
Mishor held up a hand. "It's alright, Silfiya."
The woman relaxed and then peered around Mishor. "Who is with you Hafitch Mishor?"
"Sherod Kalden and, well, I believe you two have met before." He motioned to Teigan and stepped a little to the side.
Teigan had pulled the hood back up before they left the room, but had not replaced the scarf to cover his face. Silfiya pushed her glasses farther up her nose and narrowed her eyes at him in the dim light. Suddenly she took in a sharp breath and her hand grabbed at her chest. "Teigan!" She breathed. "You're here!"
"Who?" The young man who had been standing watch with Silfiya asked.
"Let Sray know he's here," Mishor said, ignoring Serrith's question, "if you would, please, Silfiya."
"Yes, sir." Silfiya continued to stare at Teigan as she reached for the door. She found the handle and pushed it open before she leaned inside. "Sray, si'a el'a janka."
Sray burst past Silfiya and paused just long enough to realize who was standing beside Mishor. "Tafa!" She whispered in disbelief before throwing her arms around Teigan's neck, knocking off his hood as he caught her in his arms. She talked rapidly in Getier in a breathless whisper, "I can't believe you're here. Sherod Kalden is with you? How did you get here? I've missed you, but what are you doing here?"
Teigan put his hands on either side of her face and she stopped talking. He pressed his forehead against hers. "I've missed this face," he said and pulled back. "We were worried when your letters stopped. The only way to really know was to come here. I don't exist, it was easiest for me to leave. We had to know you were alright. I had to know."
The other four had moved to give Sray and Teigan space.
"Is that her father?" Kith Serrith whispered, eyes wide. "I thought he was dead."
"So did I, until yesterday." Sherod Kalden commented.
"Did you know Hafitch Mishor?" Sherrith asked.
"Not now." Mishor said and leaned towards Silfiya DeTowr. "Do you know what they're saying?"
Silfiya shook her head. "It's been too long, Danrick. Just pieces and it isn't anything we don't already know from what I can understand."
Silfiya watched the two of them. It had been twenty-five years since she last saw Teigan. The most abrupt change was his hair. It was short and dyed a uniform black. She had been around enough Klamon to think it looked odd on him. His clothes were nothing like the traditional, loose wraps his people wore, easy to adjust between their three forms, instead he was in layers of Ela'yan clothing. She knew he didn't need the coat and gloves to keep out the cold, it was to blend in, cover his markings, look as human as possible for the hundred mile trek from Jon to Engama. She couldn't remember him ever wearing shoes before. A hundred little things that spoke to the sacrifices he made to keep his family together in a world where their two species were perpetually on the edge of war.
His pale lavender eyes lit up as soon as he saw Sray. It was the one undeniable link between the two of them. When Silfiya first met Sray she would have said Sray was the spitting image of her mother, Kayrin, all except those eyes. But seeing Teigan and Sray together it was easier to see his influence; a little darker-skinned, broader through the nose, a more square jaw, and the shape of her ears.
"Tafa, it isn't safe for you here. They haven't caught the men who burned the library, if the wrong person finds out you're here, that you're still alive," she pulled his hood back over his head, "they could hurt you. It isn't safe for you here."
He grabbed her hands and brought them down between them. "I can handle myself, Sray," he assured her.
"No, you can't." She said firmly. "You haven't dealt with the Meim constructs like I have. The Elders had good reason to be terrified that Meim had crossed the border to find Bema."
Teigan's jaw pulsed as he clenched his teeth against the memory. "It's hard to catch a ghost." He said.
"But you're not a ghost." Sray frowned back at him and then softened. "You look tired, how long have you been awake?"
"I met Kalden just before dawn."
Her eyes widened in surprise. "You didn't stop?"
"Just long enough for the horses to rest. I needed to know you were safe." He repeated. "I told your mother to give me four days to find out what happened. I couldn't afford to waste any time."
"And what happens after four days? What is Bema going to do?"
"She and your siblings would make for the mountains and we start over."
Sray pressed her lips in a thin line and inhaled as she took the information in. "It isn't going to come to that." She said. "My letter left this morning and you will be back tomorrow." She finally looked at the other four. "Where can he stay?"
"He can stay with me." Silfiya offered. "Our shift is almost up anyway."
