So there's this website called Wordcounter.net that you can copy and paste text into to get your word counts. I was introduced to this site during "Miniwrimo" one year. Hopefully you all find it useful!
"So you grew up among the Klamon?" Kem asked.
Sray braced herself for the million questions she knew would follow. "Yes, we left when I was ten."
"So you remember quite a bit, right? What was that like?" Kem edged a little closer.
"Well, it was pretty good until the end."
Kem's enthusiasm dimmed only a little. "O, yeah, I didn't think about that part." She frowned as she thought about how to proceed. "But what I mean, what I'm wondering is, well, I'm just really curious about how Klamon live. Like do they build houses? Are there cities? Roads?"
"You know I don't speak for all Klamon, right?" Sray asked back in a long-suffering tone. "There are seven different races and they live in different places and have separate languages and customs just like Humans do. I just know Getier."
"Alright," Kem paused to rephrase her question, "then how do the Getier live?"
"The part of Geteilpohth we were in is high desert and there's mountains and deep canyons, much rougher terrain than you see in Ela'yas outside of the Anlizer mountains. You don't have big trees to build from so you have brick or stone. Where we lived was once a cave, but over time they carved the living spaces into it, used brick and stone to build other parts, and we all lived together in this one large structure with separate areas for each family and communal space as well. I guess it was a little like Engama, one big structure that everyone lives in. The surrounding area was managed by the clan as a group. There wasn't really individual property like you usually have among Humans here. It's all managed for the benefit of the group."
