Fill- Challenge 39 (DW)

(Eleventh Doctor, takes place between the Prequel video and the first part of Bells of St. John)

He headed back to the TARDIS, seeing the little girl leave the park with her mum. His mind was racing. He'd met this woman twice now: the Alaska and Victorian London.  And he'd lost her twice.  He'd lost lots of friends over centuries- it was an unfortunate consequence of companions. So why was she- Oswin? Montague? Or something else? suddenly running through his mind? There was something he couldn't quite grasp about her.  Her very existence shouldn't be possible...but it was definitely a mystery worth solving.

"When I lose something, I go to a quiet place and close my eyes.  And then I can remember where I put it" the girl's words came back to remembrance. He knew what to do.

He fiddled with the buttons on the console.  Somewhere quiet....the Eye of Orion? Wouldn't work. Florana? Not today. The Library of Alexandria? Definitely not.  He snapped his fingers. Result! Cumbria in 1207! Perfect place for a Time Lord to think.

Nice reflection on Clara! And pulling her words in as the driving force was a nice touch. I think you could use a bit more "why" in his thoughts. Why was it a mystery worth solving? He should explain why it was bothering him so. Why wouldn't the Eye of Orion or the other places work? Why is Cumbria perfect? The "why"s give your reader more insights into what makes this Doctor tick.

Btw, can you change the number in the title to 39? I got the challenge number wrong when I put it up. Thanks!
