Kind of introspection? Danrick Mishor a good 15-20 years before the other bits I've shared here.

When he became a widower, 250 words )

I probably could have done more around this (and may eventually) but this felt like a nice little vignette, even if it is a bit depressing.

Hey! I actually did ten minutes of writing! But not much more. This will eventually be part of a story I'm writing about Luke Rattigan from "The Sontaran Strategem"/"The Poison Sky", who is one of my favorite guest characters. This bit is a character introspection, though it's about what's happening in that story, not about the actual episodes (which would be hard, since he's dead by the end of them). The part with the woman coming up and talking to him is meant to demonstrate that contrary to what he thinks, no one noticed him at all - he just assumes that he's making a splash. It doesn't really convey that, though, and if/when I do write the rest of this story, I will expand this bit to make that really clear.

Let's do a character introspection today! Have a character reflect upon something that just happened - for example, your character's back in the TARDIS, unwinding after the last harrowing adventure and thinking about what they just experienced and how it affected them or how it relates to their own personal history.

There are a few ways you can do this. You could have them thinking things directly, as in Oo, I hate it when the Doctor treats me like that!. You could do it indirectly by the narrator, as in "She just couldn't get the condescension dripping from his voice out of her head." You could describe what they're doing and use that to communicate what they're thinking, as in "She opened her book and tried to lose herself in the romance, but found herself gripping the blanket with white-knuckled fists as the memory of his voice floated through her head."
