Pale blue walls. That was the first thing Donna noticed as she surveyed the room. She was on her way to her room and somehow ended up here. What she saw on closer inspection nearly floored her. The room was not only pale blue from floor to ceiling but it was massive. There were white cabinets lining one wall with labels like BLANKETS or SUPPLIES. Another wall had shelves with picture books and stuffed animals. Above her head, a soothing image of the night sky swirled on a projector screen. But the oddest thing was in the corner: next to a giant silver toybox (with a pink fluffy...something sticking out) was a cot. A rather old-looking wooden cot with stars and planets on top.
The redhead was dumbstruck. The only child she knew the Doctor had was Jenny. And she was too old for cuddly toys and blankets. Unless...oh she was getting to the bottom of this! If anything, it'd be something to tell Martha later. She ran to the console room.
"Donna!" the Time Lord said excitedly as he pulled a lever on one panel. "Brilliant idea for our next trip-1969! We could see the-"
"First things first, space man," she started "Care to explain to me why there's a whole nursery in the TARDIS?
"Ooh you found the nursery room?" the Time Lord, temporarily taking his eyes off the console. "Nearly forgot about it. Been, oh...centuries since it's been used."
"You what?" she asked " Were you the Intergalactic nanny, like that mad Foster woman?"
"Well, there's been...emergencies that required a nursery."
At that, Donna gave him a Look. She never could tell if he was serious or just pulling her leg.
"Had to watch the odd baby or two," he confirmed, "Or one time I was...changed."
"Changed? Blimey, you don't mean you-"
"Yep." He ran a finger through his hair thoughtfully. "Bad business with alien hypnotism. . Charley sorted me out."
"Has anyone ever told you you're bonkers?" Donna said finally, returning to the search for her room and secretly hoping she wouldn't have to put up with any of that.
