(so I'm doing a "use this to work on something else" moment.  I posted an OTP Prompt list over on my Tumblr (basically pick a number and a pairing and create something: Cooking together, Firsts, Matching clothes, Sick day, etc.  Well I got a rather special request. From my *second mom* [stepmom] who wanted something with Stargazing.  So here's a bit of that , featuring the Eighth Doctor and Charley)

Charley was having a hard time keeping her eyes open.  Their last adventure had involved Autons in Bath and her having to disguise herself as a boy (yet again) ; and now the Edwardian girl was exhausted.  She laid back on one of the couches in the TARDIS library , placing her copy of Pride and Prejudice on the table. She was nearly asleep when an all too familiar voice startled her awake.

"Charley!" the Doctor exclaimed, racing into the library, practically bouncing in excitement "Charley, Charley, Charley!"

Charley knew that when the Doctor was in that mode, it either meant something wonderful or dangerously stupid was about to happen.

"You'll never guess where we're going" the Doctor said, taking a chair near the couch.

"Oh but Doctor, I'm tired" Charley complained. "Can't it wait until I've had some sleep?"

"Guess!" he exclaimed.

Charley sighed. "Where are we going?" she asked, trying to humor him a bit.

"The Rigel Exhibit" he answered, "The best place in the galaxy to watch the stars. I've got us tickets, and if we're there soon enough we'll get to see the comets."

Now Charley was a bit interested. "Comets?"

"An array of comets!" He enthused, "Oh you're going to love it , Charley. Comets with tails in spectacular colours. So,  shall we?"

Technically, I both did and didn't fill this challenge. I've been participating in GISH this past week - that's the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, where they ask you to do all kinds of silly, kind, or humanitarian things to score points. One of the late-added items on the list was to write a "Fanfic Through the Ages" - a crossover where a 90s character and a 2000s character meet up in a 2010s universe. I jumped on that immediately, spending most of Thursday and Friday morning researching and then Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning writing.

In my story, the Tenth Doctor (2000s character) lands on the Earth of NieR Replicant (2010s universe), and encounters the vampire LaCroix (1990s character from Forever Knight), who he has met before, thousands of years earlier. FK was my main fandom back in the 1990s. NieR is one of my husband's fandoms - he's played both NieR Replicant and NieR Automata - and he's wanted me to do a DW/NieR crossover for a while. Though he's told me all about both games and their lore, we spent all of that research time trying to understand the true history, because it is bloody complicated.

As it turns out, there's a scene at the end where the Doctor tells LaCroix that he trusts him, and I realized that fulfills the weekend challenge. Yay!

Of course, with only about eight hours total of actual writing for a 2700-word story, it's unedited and unpolished. I plan to rewrite one of the scenes and then polish the story, but what's posted is what was submitted to GISH. Here it is!

Sorry! I'm going to rain-check the challenge itself! Just been a bit busy and kept forgetting to post. Let's make this challenge for the weekend, so Monday is the due date and when the next challenge will be posted.

Write a short scene with two characters who oppose each other for some reason, in which they show respect for each other (or, at least, one shows respect for the other). The conflict could be anything from two teenagers jealous of each other over something or vying for the starring role in the school play, to the hero and villain of a movie, to political opponents. They may be having a conversation, or one could be speaking to others about the other, or maybe it's a wordless gesture. The scene should give the reader at least some clue what the conflict is, but does not need to spell it out; the main point is the respect.
