This is an exercise I had in my writing class (just finished my last lesson yesterday) about description, metaphors. symbols, etc.
Basically , make this bigger!
Your characters arrive at an abandoned place that has a reputation for being a bit otherworldly. Describe their initial reactions as they enter. What is the room like, any weird sensations, etc.
