( So lurking_latinist gave me a prompt recently over on Tumblr.  For a meme that's meant to be 3 sentences.
Eight/ Charley -  Blank page.   Sp here's my take on it. Enjoy and I love feedback.  Set after Chimes of Midnight)

Charley had leaned back on one of the overstuffed couches in the TARDIS library, her thoughts racing after their recent adventure.
The Doctor momentarily stuck his head out from behind the book he was reading ( upside down,  Charley wasn't sure whether to tell him or not) and made his way over to her.

"Charley," He began,  sitting next to her.  "If there's anything you want to talk about.  About Edith or.."

Charley raised a hand to cut him off.   " I'm still trying to process it all, Doctor.  Honestly.  "

The Doctor placed a hand on her shoulder in comfort.  "  Oh.  " He said.  "  Well,  I was thinking we could perhaps visit somewhere a bit more calm.  Perhaps a real Christmas?"

"But , Doctor." Charley started,  getting up and going over to one of the many tables.  "There is something I"d like to do."  On the table, she found a few scrap pieces of paper and a fountain pen.  Within seconds, Charley was madly scribbling.

The Doctor  watched on, trying hard to read over her shoulder.  "Oh! A new diary!" He exclaimed, as if a cartoony image of a light bulb had appeared.

"Well if I'm going to travel with you, I may as well start again." Charley explained.  At the top of one page were the words: Further Memoirs of an Edwardian Adventuress.

Today's challenge is an exercise in character.

First, choose two characters that have very different personalities, or create two such characters, and identify a couple of those differences. For example, one character could be optimistic in outlook while the other is pessimistic. Or, one could be from a high social class and be rather snooty, while the other is from a low social class and is obsequious. You could even go with temporary traits, like one of them is pretty normal (for them) but the other is upset about something that happened recently and is snippy, touchy, or even outright angry.

Once you have your characters, expose them to something and have them react to it in a way that illustrates the differences in their characters. They could be entering a place they've never been before, or opening a gift, or watching a new TV show. Maybe a third character did something unexpected.

Focus on revealing these characters to the reader via actions and dialogue, rather than having the narrator telling the reader what these people are like or what they're thinking.
