So I posted a Meme on my journal and a prompt I got was Eight/ Charley- cakefic . So here's a bit of it.

Eyes half-open, Charley tried to stand up. Gathering all her strength she tried several times until something finally clicked: at some point, she had been bound to the florr. Examining closer, Charley noticed a particular smell in the air.
"Gosh" she breathed, after another cursory sniff.
It wasn't toxic or disgusting. It smelled...sweet, delicious even! It reminded her of the house around Christmas when the cook spent half the day baking. But the real question was- where was it coming from? Were she and the Doctor in some sort of bakery or kitchen? Looking over her shoulder, Charley saw the Doctor : also bound but fast asleep. Extending her arm as far as she could, Charley did her best to nudge him awake.
"Doctor!" she exclaimed, "Do you happen to smell the air in here?"
With a start, the Time Lord awoke. "Charley? " he asked, then looked down at his green coat. Just above the pockets was a layer of something yellow and sticky.
Upon closer inspection, Charley saw that the yellow..something was also on her.
"What do you think it is?" Charley asked, reaching to try and rub some off.
"I'm not sure" the Docotr, replied. Charley gaped as he took a finger and proceeded to liick the substance. "It's cake!" he said at last. "It'a actually qite nice. A bit like sponge cake if I'm not mistaken."

Charley still couldn't believe it. "What if that were poisoned?" she nearly yelled, before trying a bit herself.
"So someone has ...bound us to the floor and poured cake on us?" She asked.

Here's a challenge: select or create a character with a specific character flaw and write a scene that _subtly_ reveals it. It's easy to make it obvious, like taking Hamlet and his indecision and give him a soliloquy where he expounds on it for five minutes, but much harder to reveal it to the reader with quiet clues.

Here's an example you can use: Mary and Adam meet up and Mary gives Adam a wrapped present. They're going off to do something, so Adam puts it in a pocket for later. Mary keeps hinting at the present until Adam finally pulls it back out and unwraps it, and gushes over it and thanks her for it. The character flaw is that Mary needs validation - she gave him the gift not because she wanted to give him something but because she wanted to be praised for it.
