Kallon has some serious PTSD to work through and has an incident as he travels with Yurrein to Lunais with the other Lunaisan hybrids. I doubt it's Kallon's first night terror, but it's the first one I've written about.

This is kind of revisiting challenge 111 with a fight scene.

This is one of the first stories I ever wrote, back in 2014, and the first multi-chapter, a Doctor Who / Harry Potter crossover titled Mistaken Identity. It's a David Tennant doppleganger crossover, well, sorta - it capitalizes on the Doctor looking like Barty Crouch, rather than having Barty and the Doctor meet.

Back when I first posted it on ffnet, one of the comments, which has stuck with me all this time, was that it was a nice story, but it was too short, and that I should fill it in more. At the time, I thought that was crazy - why add words just to make it longer? However, after a few years, I happened to go back and read it and I understood what the commenter had really meant. The story had no meat - I skipped through descriptions and basically rushed through everything in my haste to produce a finished story. Also, on reread, I realized just how much years of writing practice had taught me as I winced at the horrible early writing.

I really need to rewrite Mistaken Identity (and my other longfic from that time, The Actor, which is surprisingly popular despite its horrible writing), but I know I never will. However, I decided to give it a bit of start for this challenge. Here's a new opening page.

Okay,  I do like this idea since I play the what if game a lot after I post a thing.  So I have one (maybe two,,,) I'd revisit.

First is this thing I did back in September.  archiveofourown.org/works/41444406

(Context is I did it for Fan-Flashworks and 100ships.  Inspired by a thing BMG posted.  Though I really do like the concept ! )

(I feel like I could've described things a little better -  like Charley's reaction to the Reveal .  E.g.  the way I have it is "what she saw next she'd never forget"  I could maybe have her gasp, or some other body language.  Since rule one is show don't tell.  And looking back at a little further, maybe go into more detail about their actual flight at the end.   I say they 'made circles and did tricks in the air' but I wonder if it would be better to actually have that happen.  And have something like-

"Doctor, look!" Charley exclaimed,  as they passed a cluster of clouds.  " We're rather high up now, aren't we?" Turning her head a little to the left, Charley saw a large red-orange sphere starting to form in the sky.  "Is that...the moon?"

"Well one of them" the Doctor explained,  doing his best to  manoeuvre around some curious birds.  "This planet actually has three moons. One each part of the day. "

Charley stretched her arm wide. " I can almost touch it, gosh!" she said, a bit in awe and desperately trying hard to not look down and be reminded of exactly how high they were.

Seond is a OUAT Christmas fic I posted not too long ago.  Honestly,  mainly I think there's parts I could've worded differently  or added onto.

Happy one year anniversary! Omg yes, we've been here for a year now! Also, this challenge has a nice round number! I love it!

It's been a great, fun year, and I hope that this comm has been helping you establish a good writing habit. I've wrangled the tags to get them up to date, so look off on the right there and see how you did - how many fills you posted. For me, I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm not writing as often as I used to, but wow, 83 fills! That's more than I expected over the year.

How's it been for you? Did you do more than you expected, like I did? Has your writing improved with the practice? Have you made progress towards your writing goals (whatever they might be)? Are you ready for the next year of writing ten minutes a day?

I'd also like to point out that, though we only have three active contributors, there are a total of 19 members in this comm - we have an audience! (I'm thinking of pimping the comm, maybe on fandom_on_dw.)

Today's challenge: Remember that thing you posted - you know the one - where you put it up and then two days later, you thought, "Aw man, I shoulda used these characters instead!" or "If I'd had them do this it would have been awesome!" or "That would have been way better if I'd written it first-person!" or whatever? Well, now's your chance - go back and do it! Rewrite a few paragraphs of something you haven't looked at for at least two months, using your new ideas or things you've learned in the past year. I recommend writing it fresh and see what comes out, rather than editing what's already there.
