( I know what that expression means, or at least have a good idea. But this came to me today and couldn't resist. I know I'm early .
Eight Doctor and Charley)
Eight Doctor and Charley)
"Fabulous sunrises, you said" Charley complained as they raced back into the TARDIS "Peaceful lakes and breathtaking forests, you said. " She pointed an accusing finger at the Doctor.
"Well, there are. Normally" he began, adjusting a few settings on the console. " MDR-3 is usually an idyllic place, like a jungle. The Daleks weren't meant to invade for another decade or more. " He pressed several buttons seemingly at random. "The Old Girl needs an update." He muttered.
"Well I'm going for a bath" Charley said curtly, about to make her way out of the room.
The Doctor was lost in his maze of co-ordinates to see her leave. And neither traveller seemed to be aware of the fuzzy little elephant-like creature in one corner of the room.
After at least an hour in the bath (accompanied by a Gothic novel found in the library), Charley emerged, feeling loads more relaxed. "So, where to now?" she asked the Doctor.
"I was thinking perhaps we could try the Great Exhibition. I've meant to visit it since-" His words were cut off by a happy trumpeting noise.
Charley nudged the Doctor, finding the source of the sound. "Doctor? Is that...an elephant in the room? " she asked, almost laughing.
The Doctor walked over and patted the small mammal on the head. "Oh! It's a Pachyian, Charley!" He exclaimed. "They're a small species from right outside Saturn, And this one is, if the blue color is an indicator, a female." He stroked the creature's belly, softly cooing at her. Charley knew that tone: it was the one he'd used with Ramsay.
"Well what should we do with her?" Charley asked. It was only logical they'd have to figure out something. But the Doctor was already back fiddling with the TARDIS.
I suppose we'll address it later, Charley thought as she left, though not before giving their little guest a small pet.
