(Sixth Doctor and Charley.  Apologies for length but I think I've caught a bit of "drabble bug" .  Also working on tense )

"So, Charlotte Smith, who are you really?"

Charley hears his question and it hits a nerve.  He's not the Doctor, or at least not her Doctor.  Not the one she still grieves for most days. Not the one she...  But she can't keep up this deception forever.

Of course, there's that stupid risk: that Web of Time nonsense. But he's starting to get curiouser and curiouser now.  And she was quite the impossible thing to believe- before or after breakfast.

It was now or never: tell him or don't tell him.

"Doctor, " she says uncertain, "I feel there's...something you ought to know. About me. "

A small re-written scene from Chapter Five in Fire Forged Key (book one of the trilogy-in-making). As mentioned before I'm running through my current draft cover to cover again and tightening things up and adjusting things, one happens to be how tight-lipped Sray is about her life at home. Previously she had mentioned her siblings and I realized that, no, she'd try to keep as much personal information about herself as close to the vest as possible so this spot got a re-write.

"Well, I'm exhausted." Kem said as they left the smithy. "I think i can take blacksmithing off of my list of crafts to study." She then shrugged and added, "not that it was on there to begin with. How about you, Sray?"

"I can see how this work could be appealing," Sray said as she thought of Kallon and his apprenticship. "I just have no interest in working hot metal. One smith in the family is enough."

"You have a smith in your family?" Kem asked, her curiosity peaked.

Sray had managed to avoid saying much of anything about her family and was slightly annoyed at herself for letting something slip. By now she knew the names and ages of all the girls' siblings and Sray had managed to avoid mentioning she had any at all. "Yes, well, my father made things." She finally offered. Teigan was a bit more than a blacksmith, but she didn't have enough Ela'yan words to properly describe it and it felt safer than mentioning Kallon.

"O, I see." Kem went quiet with thought. It looked like she wanted to ask something else, but decided against it.

For this challenge,  write a scene where your character is trying to admit / confess something to another character. You can focus on what they're admitting or how one or both react.
