Here's a different kind of description challenge.

Choose a color, say, red. Now, think of three things that are that color. Picture those things in your mind or find a reference photo on the interwebs. Pay attention not only to the type of color (light or dark red, bright or dull, more bluish or more orangeish, or maybe brownish, or really a true red, etc.) but also other visual features of the part of the thing that is your chosen color, such as its texture, shine, etc.

Now, for each object, write one sentence to describe the thing, including the color and appearance of it, but without using any color words. "Color words" include different shades of the the color (for red, words such as such as crimson and vermillion), but does not include other things that are that color.

As an example, to describe a bad sunburn, you might write, "His knee looked like a ripe apple" - this conveys both the deep red color and how the surface turns taut and shiny before it starts to peel.

Note: Don't write more than one sentence for each thing, and don't try to get fancy and write a big long sentence. The point is to visualize the object in detail, then find good words to convey what you're picturing.
