WIP Weekend!!! For today’s challenge, write at least three paragraphs for one of your own projects. Do a bit more in a work-in-progress… Write something concrete for an idea that so far has only been rattling around in your brain… Take one of the fills you’ve done for this comm and write the next scene in the story….You can even go back to something you’ve finished and rework/rewrite/reimagine it… Or, if you prefer, revise and edit a few paragraphs of a WIP to improve style, language, character, plot, etc.

Yes, you have to post the snippet that you do, so don’t work on something that you want to keep secret. :) Or, if you completed and posted your work, post the link!

(Yep it's 'trope-y' but I seriously blame you and BMG for making me a fan of these two. There's a reference to the Library and Death and the Queen (and almost Partners in Crime but it got deleted))

The TARDIS' metallic screeching rang out across the vast purple landscape as the box materialized into life; its current occupants, a gentleman in a brown suit and a redheaded woman, stepped outside.

"So what's this place called again?" the woman, Donna, asked as she took in the landscape. The ground was not only purple, the sky was a shade of plum and there looked like a simultaneous sun and moon overhead. She could hear the distant sounds of music and cheering.

"Zarena!" the Doctor replied, rather enthusiastically, "Lovely planet, perfect spot in the galaxy for a party!"

"So, what is this like a space street party?" asked Donna.

"Sort of," the Doctor explained, taking her hand and leading her down a near path that seemed to be crowded with citizens of every primary color imaginable. "Been here once, a long time ago. Took my friend Lucie here during their spring festival. And I thought you could use a break after, well..."

"You're allowed to say it, Spaceman"Donna cut him off. "The Library."

"Yes! That. Anyway, welcome to your holiday, Donna Noble."

---------
The music and sounds of raucous cheering and celebrating grew closer and louder the further down the road the couple went. Along the way, they passed loads of stalls selling food, local flowers (blue and polka-dots), and some rather gaudy fashions.

Donna held up a scarf that looked like every color in the rainbow had been begging to be included on it.
"Who would want this?" she asked in disgust.
"Oh I don't know, " said the Doctor, examining the scarf "Reminds me of a coat I used to have. I rather liked it. Ooh! We're here!"

"Here" apparently meant a large black stone cave in the middle of town.  As the Doctor and Donna were about to enter, a man (whose skin was an alternating green and blue pattern) ran to greet them.

"Ah! Doctor!" he said brightly in an accent that sounded to Donna like South African , "Pleasure to see you back again. Is this the one?"

"Toros!" the Doctor practically hugged the alien, "And yes, this is Donna. My latest companion."

"Oh she is perfect!" Toros enthused. "My attendants will see to her clothes."

"Oi!" snapped the redhead "What about my clothes? And perfect for what? Thought we were just here for a holiday."

The Doctor looked sheepish. "Well, it is. But during this festival there's usually...a wedding."

"Wedding? Is this some kind of fertility thing? "she asked, now glaring at him. "'Cause I'm not hatching some kind of alien-"

Toros interrupted her. "It isn't a fertility festival, it is our Equinox event. There's a lot of music and parties to celebrate the sun and moon becoming one light in our sky. And part of this celebrating is a wedding."

Well that made somewhat sense. But Donna still had questions.

"Do I have to marry the prince? You know what my last experience with that was like."

Toros bowed. "We have no prince. I am the leader of this planet."

"Well...how do I address you? Your Grace? Your Blue-ness? "

"Toros is fine," the alien answered, slightly amused at Donna's title for him.

"Fine, Toros. But that still doesn't tell me who I'm marrying."

The Doctor stepped closer to her. "I...can answer that. Though you might not like it."

Donna gaped. "You don't mean...?"

"Yep."

Donna wanted to run back to the TARDIS right then but she noticed the citizens begin to crowd around them. She sighed. "If we have to do it."

----
The next few hours were a blur of loud music, food, people hugging and cheering for the new couple, and Donna dressed in a neon pink and white ensemble that made her feel like an extra in an '80s film, the sort she and Susie Mar used to sneak off school to go see. The next morning , she awoke in the TARDIS, feeling positively exhausted and ready to slap the Doctor halfway across the galaxy.

"Good morning" he greeted her as she walked into the console room.

"Did you set this up?" she asked, giving him a Look.

"Well, I mean, "the Doctor was, at that rare moment, at a loss for words. "I just, thought you'd..."

"What? Become your, what am I anyway, a Time Wife now?"

"Well that's kind of complicated to explain."

"Just find us somewhere nice, Spaceman!" she cried. "Since apparently you owe me a honeymoon now. Oh, I'm not even sure I should tell Mum or Gramps now..."
