I've been neglecting things here for a while, both as a mod and as a contributor. I need to clean up the tags - maybe saying so will actually make me do it. :) I did change the "creator: X" tags to "author: X" so that they will appear at the top of the tag list instead of the bottom. I would much rather show off everyone's work than the "c???" tags.

Well, I finished my [community profile] intoabar fic, for what it's worth. I realized most of the way through that I didn't have a story - all I had was Kaylee and Madame Tracy talking at each other - but I couldn't figure out what to actually do with it, so that's what I eventually posted. But I finished and I'm proud of that!

"Right Outside Salisbury" - Prompt: Kaylee Frye goes into a bar public place and meets Madame Tracy! (Firefly / Good Omens)

A small re-written scene from Chapter Five in Fire Forged Key (book one of the trilogy-in-making). As mentioned before I'm running through my current draft cover to cover again and tightening things up and adjusting things, one happens to be how tight-lipped Sray is about her life at home. Previously she had mentioned her siblings and I realized that, no, she'd try to keep as much personal information about herself as close to the vest as possible so this spot got a re-write.

"Well, I'm exhausted." Kem said as they left the smithy. "I think i can take blacksmithing off of my list of crafts to study." She then shrugged and added, "not that it was on there to begin with. How about you, Sray?"

"I can see how this work could be appealing," Sray said as she thought of Kallon and his apprenticship. "I just have no interest in working hot metal. One smith in the family is enough."

"You have a smith in your family?" Kem asked, her curiosity peaked.

Sray had managed to avoid saying much of anything about her family and was slightly annoyed at herself for letting something slip. By now she knew the names and ages of all the girls' siblings and Sray had managed to avoid mentioning she had any at all. "Yes, well, my father made things." She finally offered. Teigan was a bit more than a blacksmith, but she didn't have enough Ela'yan words to properly describe it and it felt safer than mentioning Kallon.

"O, I see." Kem went quiet with thought. It looked like she wanted to ask something else, but decided against it.

For this challenge,  write a scene where your character is trying to admit / confess something to another character. You can focus on what they're admitting or how one or both react.

(Short bit of WIP  -  thank you [personal profile] shivver  )

Donna placed the bit of vine into the mug of hot water; watching the water turn from clear and steaming to a near plum color .  Picking up the mug, she examined it- it was a daft little thing in the shape of an owl. She made a note to eventually ask the Doctor where he'd found it.  The redhead sniffed at the tea; if she had to describe the scent it was a bit like old peaches or pears.  Definitely not Earl Grey, but it's what he needed.
Carrying it carefully so as not to spill, Donna made her way to the medical bay.

"Drink this" she said, placing the tea on a table near the Doctor's bed. "If I got it right it should help you feel better. "

The Doctor blearily awoke, muttering a "thank you" as he took the mug. He took a tiny sip, his face puckering as if he'd bit into a giant lemon.

"What's wrong now?" Donna asked.  "Too hot? Wrong flavor? It's not like I had any oranges or cinnamon for it. "

"No...it's perfect" the Doctor answered, and for the first time since that morning, Donna saw his face turn into almost a smile.

"Never been on a boat before?"

She steadied herself against the rail and exhaled through gritted teeth as she tried to swallow her nausea. "No. I am not exactly built for sailing. I prefer things I stand on or climb not be moving on its own."

He laughed. "You'll get used to it. By the time we land on Ostrin you might find the solid ground a little strange."

Sray didn't believe him.
