Hey there! So yeah, writing has just not been a thing for me lately. Things have been stressy and I've been in a escapist mood - spent the entire weekend playing Stardew Valley, for example.

Today's challenge is meant to be difficult, or at least, well, challenging. It's meant to really get you into the head of your character. Give your character a motivation or opinion that you yourself oppose, and write a scene where the character explains it to someone else. It should not be a trivial opinion, like their favorite color is one that you hate. It should be reasonably important - an example would be the argument between the Doctor and Donna in "The Fires of Pompeii", when they figured out they were in Pompeii and Donna wanted to warn everyone so they wouldn't die and the Doctor insisted on leaving and letting history play out as it should.

The point is to dig into the character's personality and history to understand why they feel that way - remember that everyone believes their beliefs and motivations are right.

(Sixth Doctor and Charley, kind of a followup to this )

"So, where do we go from here? Now that you know. "

The Doctor considered the question as he headed for the console.  "I believe, Miss Pollard, the most appropriate thing would be to take you home. "

"But...you can't!" Charley exclaimed, "What about your Web of Time? I can't very well go home now."

The Doctor's expression changed; he looked almost like an angry cat about to hiss. " Then why did you tell me?"

Charley should have expected this. "Because..." she began, trying her best to hold back tears. "I loved you. Well, I loved the other you. You were my friend. And when you came to rescue me, I'd thought I would never see you again. "

Charley paused, not sure if she should continue. "And I didn't want to keep lying to you.,"

The Doctor took in every word. "I see, I might've guessed with that whole business of your 'amnesia'.  "

"You knew?" Charley asked, somewhat in shock. She knew he could be brilliant, but never would have suspected that.

The Doctor nodded, adjusting the badge of his lapel. " I had suspected you weren't entirely what you appeared to be, Charlotte Smith. " He smiled a little at the name, it was an alias that served him well. "So the question remains, where do we go now?"

"Well, frankly" Charley started, "I"d settle for just relaxing in the bath with a good book. " And at that, she made her way to the library.  She was in the mood for something...a bit Romantic today.
