The Doctor gave another tug on the ropes binding Cherval's arms behind his back. "Don't think that's going to free you."
"But it will." He turned to sneer, his nose two inches from the Doctor's. "I'm the only one who knows about the tunnel under the complex, the only way you can get in past the soldiers."
"A slaver compound invaded by the military who want to just take the slaves for their own, and a secret passage to get in?" asked Donna. She peered at the Doctor. "Is your life just a day at the cinema?"
"Not now, Donna," he admonished her. "You, Cherval, just want me to get your slaves back for you. That's not going to happen."
"They'll still be slaves, just under a new master. And the ones the Colonel doesn't want?" Cherval shrugged. "More for the charnel house."
The Doctor drew back as Donna gasped. He ran a hand through his hair as he glared at the slaver.
"Doctor..." Donna took his arm. "You can't let that happen."
"No. I can't." The storm in his eyes settled into steely determination. He spun Cherval around and fired a blast of sonic at the ropes, which fell to the ground. "All right. You get us in there and we get them out safely. But you and I are having a little talk afterwards. And no guns!"
"I don't even know how to use one, Doctor," he replied, rubbing at his scored wrists. "I'm an administrator, not a taskmaster."
