( I do not know why my brain went here... but *shrug* Listened to a little Time Reaver for voice reference. )
The corridor was dark, save for the few seconds of flickering lights as the Doctor and Donna ran through, the sounds of electronic zapping and buzzing echoing louder by the minute.
"How are they still following us??" Donna asked incredulously, as a tiny winged thing landed on her shoulder. " You said they were like fireflies, don't they get bored or anything ?"
"Metal synthetics!" the Doctor exclaimed, pausing to run a finger through his hair. " And normally, they would. But if we hadn't disturbed the Queen..." He gave Donna a look.
"Oi!" she cried, swatting one of the metallic fireflies. " How was I supposed to know that was the Queen of these things? Didn't know she was sleeping, she might've been- oh!" Donna quickly looked down to see one of the creatures chewing on her finger. "Right. TARDIS? Where?"
"Well..." the Doctor began, grabbing Donna's hand to steel her away from a wall. " Thing is, she's kind of...recharging at the moment? Full diagnostic. Like one of those self cleaning ovens. "
"So we're locked out. And we've got metal bugs after us?"
"Yep."
"How did I not see this coming?"
