Dialogue and character practice! First, find a snippet of one character's dialogue that you like, either from an established work or your own work, or write new dialogue. It should be three to five sentences long and be continuous (that is, not unconnected sentences from different parts of a work). Good sources would be lines from a speech or an instance where the character is explaining something to another (such as how to do something or talking about feelings or thoughts).
Next, select another character that's either very different from the original or in a different circumstance, such as a different time period, or both! Then, write the dialogue you've chosen for that new character in that circumstance. Focus on making it make sense for the situation and writing in-character and in-voice.
As an example, for Doctor Who fans, take the Eleventh Doctor's Pandorica speech and write it as if Leela were saying it to cow a group of warriors planning to attack her. Or, take Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice and write it for Tony Stark proposing to Pepper Potts.
