Today's challenge is not to write. Today's challenge is to construct an original story, from beginning to end.
Just an outline, and it can be (probably should be) simple - even as simple as a fairy tale, like for Hansel and Gretel:
The evil stepmother pressures her husband to leave the children in the woods, where they're tempted by a gingerbread house and a witch captures them. The witch puts Hansel in a cage, where she tries to fatten him up, but because she's blind, he uses a bone to keep her thinking he's too thin to eat. She puts Gretel to work around the house and Gretel tricks the witch by pretending to be too dumb to check the fire in the oven and pushes the witch in. She frees Hansel and they go home.
See? Very simple story, but it explains the problem and outlines the solution.
Some ideas:
* Two characters, and one is trying to ask the other out to dinner. The problem could be them trying to get up the courage to do so, or it could be that the other said no and they're trying to convince them.
* Mom is trying to convince son to eat his broccoli.
* Two characters are out on a walk and a tree has fallen in their path. What do they do?
