(I did an actual 10 minutes!)
The numbers on the screen flashed an angry shade of red as they counted down.
10...9...8...
"Doctor, I hope you know what you're doing" thought Tegan, the sounds of shrieking Daleks and the smell of ash filling the air. At times like this, Tegan kept wondering why exactly she hadn't stayed back in Amsterdam. She pressed down on the transmitter.
" Seven seconds left!" she exclaimed.
"Marvellous," She heard the Doctor's familiar voice say, followed by a blast of static noise. " Keep---- core of the ship. Nyssa and I --- stabilized. Stay---- Daleks!"
Throwing the transmitter down, Tegan frowned. The numbers on the wall now reading five seconds.
The smell of ash grew suddenly stronger as the last few seconds ticked away. One of the few words she'd gleaned in all that fuzz had been 'stay." Well she was doing that at least.
Ducking down to the hard metal floor, Tegan waited for the inevitable as the time seemed to freeze.
