This past week boys have been out of schook for fall break which means both more and less time to do things! Still hacking away at the novel, managed to crest 200 pages! I feel so accomplished, we'll see if I'm 2/3 or 4/5 of the way through ... probably the former.

Pretty much all my writing right now fits in the WIP category because it's centered around FFK (except for my detours to the 2nd and 3rd book ...)

Kem hurried to get ready and she and Sray left the room early for breakfast, Kith Serrith leading them. There were few in the hall when they entered. Meikal joined them again. Ieshan Jespan tentatively approached their table. Kem sat up a bit straighter, seeming to get ready to jump to Sray's defense.

"Hey, uh, Srae Hillenbohn." He seemed a bit awkward and unsre, but still sat with his plate.

"Ieshan Jespan, right?" She asked.

"Yeah, that's right." He gave a slight smile at her recognition. "I-uh, had a question." He shifted in the seat as if he coulnd't quite get comfortable.

"I would be surprised if you didn't." Sray said a little dryly. "What is it?" Just get it over with.

"I-uh-well, I wanted to ask-do-er-does Dantel know? He's friends with your brother, Kallon's his name, right?" Meikal and Kem both looked at Sray with surprise and she just barely held in a groan and cleared her throat instead and rubbed her chin rather than hiding her face in her hands. "Does Dantel know about your father?"

Sray stared back at Ieshan. He had written to his cousin and Dantel had obviously written back. "No." she finally said when it felt like the first thing out of her mouth wasn't going to be a frustrated scream. "No, Dantel does not know about our father. I would be very grateful if it stayed that way."

"O, no, yes." Ieshan seemed a little flustered. "I mean, of course, if he doesn't know I wouldn't dream of telling him. I can keep a secret, you know. I just wanted to know if he knew. He and Kallon seemed pretty close."

"Thank you." She said with relief. "They're usually pretty close to getting in trouble." She added then recalled what he said when they first met. "Do you still think it is a good sign I'm here?" She couldn't help asking.

Ieshan seemed to regain the confidence he had at their first meeting and sat up straighter. "Maybe better than good!"

"Hey, what was your name again?" Kem asked.

"Ieshan Jespan."

"Ieshan Jespan, I'm Kem Aldai," she stuck out her hand, "nice to meet someone else who feels the same."

Meikal was introduced as well and the four of them worked through breakfast without any further mention of Sray's family. Silfiya DeTowr joined them as they got up to go and lead the way to her own class.

When they were alone in the room later Kem had a look to her that Sray knew meant more questions. "So you have a brother." It felt accusatory.

"Yes, and so does everyone else in our group." Sray tried to brush it off.

"Yes, but up until two days ago I assumed you were an only child."
