tenminutesadayHappy one year anniversary! Omg yes, we've been here for a year now! Also, this challenge has a nice round number! I love it!
It's been a great, fun year, and I hope that this comm has been helping you establish a good writing habit. I've wrangled the tags to get them up to date, so look off on the right there and see how you did - how many fills you posted. For me, I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm not writing as often as I used to, but wow, 83 fills! That's more than I expected over the year.
How's it been for you? Did you do more than you expected, like I did? Has your writing improved with the practice? Have you made progress towards your writing goals (whatever they might be)? Are you ready for the next year of writing ten minutes a day?
I'd also like to point out that, though we only have three active contributors, there are a total of 19 members in this comm - we have an audience! (I'm thinking of pimping the comm, maybe on fandom_on_dw.)
Today's challenge: Remember that thing you posted - you know the one - where you put it up and then two days later, you thought, "Aw man, I shoulda used these characters instead!" or "If I'd had them do this it would have been awesome!" or "That would have been way better if I'd written it first-person!" or whatever? Well, now's your chance - go back and do it! Rewrite a few paragraphs of something you haven't looked at for at least two months, using your new ideas or things you've learned in the past year. I recommend writing it fresh and see what comes out, rather than editing what's already there.

Date: 2023-01-09 02:15 am (UTC)This last year I wrote over 207 pages just in my Forged by Fire project(triolgy plus the prequel in various stages) and did over 110,000 words, which completley boggles my mind. That doesn't include the other miscellaneous snippets that ended up here not included in that project!
I've definitely made progress towards my writing goals and feel like I might just finish the complete first draft of book one (Fire Forged Key/FFK) this year. It makes me super excited.
Thanks again to both of you for hosting such a welcoming community and providing the prompts. I know I kind of disappeared a bit towards the end there as I got on a role with FFK during miniwrimo, but hope to do more prompts soon.
I hope to see others poking about here this next year and some of our lurkers decide to join in! An open invitation to those lurking: I don't mind comments, I'll take all the comments, no matter how long or short.

Date: 2023-01-10 10:42 pm (UTC)I'm glad you've found it interesting. I know in the beginning it lacked any context whatsoever, but that's part of the fun and the challenge in posting such short snippets for the most part, trying to make it engaging even without full context of the scene.
Thanks again for offering this space. I hope others take advantage of it this year and join in!
