"So what's on first?" asked Jason. He and his friends, Michelle and Beck, had gathered on his family room couch for their weekly tradition of pizza and watching the Friday night block on TV.
"Well according to the TV guide," began Michelle, "First this week is some new show about a magical girl and a talking cat. Then the one with the teenage aliens. Then a family sitcom."
"Oh I've been waiting for this to come on!" Beck enthused, before picking up her empty plastic cup from the table. "But I need more soda. Tell me what I miss?"
The other two nodded.
It wasn't long until the show began.
"Call that a theme song?" Jason asked, "There's not even lyrics!"
Michelle laughed. "We're only a minute in and the cat is already getting annoying. "
"I don't know," Jason noted "I like his voice. And apparently the audience finds him hysterical."
"But it doesn't make sense!" Michelle criticized "Why is her magic only starting now when she's sixteen? And is this whole scene just turning people into pineapples? It's lame."
A few commercials later...
"The rich girl is so mean" said Jason "Why does every show have to have a mean girl in every school?"
Just then, Beck ran in from the other door.
"Sorry it took me so long." she said. "My phone rang and- did that cheerleader just turn into a goat? Why?"
"Don't ask" answered Michelle. " It barely made sense in the show."
"So that was pointless" said Jason finally. "But, I kind of want to watch it next week."
"At least it's better than...whatever this teenage alien show is;" muttered Michelle, clicking off the TV.
(Notes- What they're watching is based on the "TGIF" TV block ABC aired in the 90s/2000s. And yes they're watching Sabrina (which I watched a lot of when I was younger and haven't seen it in at least a decade)
