shivverChoose your character and take them somewhere. Have them close their eyes, then write a couple of paragraphs of what they're hearing, smelling, and possibly feeling in that location.
Remember, show, don't tell. You could write, "A car drove by, honking its 'Dixie' horn", but that's not what they're really hearing. (Not to mention, they can't see, so how do they know it's a car and not a truck?) "The bench shook under her as a massive vehicle rumbled by, trumpeting 'Dixie'."
