Technically, I both did and didn't fill this challenge. I've been participating in GISH this past week - that's the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, where they ask you to do all kinds of silly, kind, or humanitarian things to score points. One of the late-added items on the list was to write a "Fanfic Through the Ages" - a crossover where a 90s character and a 2000s character meet up in a 2010s universe. I jumped on that immediately, spending most of Thursday and Friday morning researching and then Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning writing.
In my story, the Tenth Doctor (2000s character) lands on the Earth of NieR Replicant (2010s universe), and encounters the vampire LaCroix (1990s character from Forever Knight), who he has met before, thousands of years earlier. FK was my main fandom back in the 1990s. NieR is one of my husband's fandoms - he's played both NieR Replicant and NieR Automata - and he's wanted me to do a DW/NieR crossover for a while. Though he's told me all about both games and their lore, we spent all of that research time trying to understand the true history, because it is bloody complicated.
As it turns out, there's a scene at the end where the Doctor tells LaCroix that he trusts him, and I realized that fulfills the weekend challenge. Yay!
Of course, with only about eight hours total of actual writing for a 2700-word story, it's unedited and unpolished. I plan to rewrite one of the scenes and then polish the story, but what's posted is what was submitted to GISH. Here it is!
