Today's topic: Communication! Or lack thereof.
Write a couple of paragraphs of a scene where one character communicates something to another without speaking or using words of any language (including writing, sign language, or any other non-spoken languages).
There's lots of ways to approach this challenge.
* It could be as simple as them pointing at a switch to get the other person to flip it.
* How about smoky glances across the room between two people interested in each other?
* Character's expressions can communicate a lot. Take a look at this clip from Pride and Prejudice - Lizzie's playing piano and singing and you can tell from each of the characters' expressions what they're thinking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GHm4MK6F1Y (Darcy is the first person shown, and he's totally in love with her, so anything she does is the best. The two women sitting together are vying for Darcy and totally jealous of Lizzie, so they think her music is terrible.)
* The character could send a coded message and the recipient has to figure out the code (though remember, no speaking, even on the recipient's end).
* The character could just use rude hand gestures. That's communication without language.
