I dunno. What you've written is not a remix, as I understand it. A remix is to take the story that's already there and write it in your own words. You might write it in a different style, or change the POV, or explore something specific that's already in the story, but you're supposed to stay within the plot of the existing story as much as possible.

That's why it's called a remix - "mix something again", or just redo what's already there, not add stuff. A remix of a song is someone recording the same song again but in their own way.

What you seem to have done is copied the original text into your doc and not touched it, but then added what led into that bit before it and what's happening after that bit. That's not a remix - that's writing your own story that happens to have a part of someone else's story copied into it. In music, that would be called "sampling" - your song with a sample of a different song.

I feel like, rather than remixing the piece, you're considering the piece to be a prompt and writing your own story using that prompt.
