(Sixth Doctor and Charley )
All Charley could see was pitch blackness as the two travellers stepped out of the TARDIS.
"Where are we, Doctor?" she asked, feeling the stone wall along either side of her, "It's rather dark."
"I believe I have a small torch in my coat pocket," said the Doctor, searching his pockets until he found a torch about the size of a keychain. A streak of pale- blue light cut a tiny hole in the dark."Ah, well it is better than pitch black. We appear to be in some sort of castle."
"Castle?" Charley asked, a slight hint of disappointment in her voice, "You said we were going to Zalon-4. Most luxurious seashore in the galaxy, you said."
The Doctor huffed. "Apparently the Old Girl had other ideas. Anyway, it's been awhile since I've been in a castle. Since...around Henry VIII. Shall we explore?" At this, he pulled another torch from his pocket.
As long as I don't end up like Ann Boleyn, thought Charley.
As they walked further, Charley felt a sense of unease come over her. There was a cold chill in the air, like one suddenly gets opening the door on a winter morning. There was no noise, not even a drop of water from the ceiling. It was as if no one had been there in decades. Until, a moment later, she heard a noise like something...breathing.
"Doctor, Charley said, trying to let the unease be clear in her voice, "Perhaps we should go back to the TARDIS."
The Doctor was a little thrown off. "Charlotte, " he started, "Though we haven't travelled together for very long, you hardly seem like the sort of person to jump at shadows."
Another wisp of breathing.
"I normally don't," Charley replied. "But I'm beginning to think we aren't the only ones here."
