Fill- Challenge 49 (original)

I looked down, giving my blouse and skirt one last inspection before taking a seat in the office chair. I could almost feel the older woman across the desk mentally criticizing my wardrobe choices before the interview had even started.
"So, miss, how long have you wanted to work in our library?"
"Oh, it seems like forever" I answered, a bit too excited in hindsight. "I've always loved reading, and this library was like a second home for me each summer when I was a kid."
I saw her take out a pen and write something on the paper on her desk. "I see. And do you have any experience?"
"I do" I answered, "I worked as a library aid in the school system for about four years. So I'm definitely familiar with the system and," I added, just to make sure, "If you need me to read stories on Saturdays I'm an expert. I do, I'm told, an epic Frog and Toad voice."
I could tell she wasn't amused at the last bit.
"Well your resume is impressive and according to your application, you are currently finishing your MLS. We will call you in a few days."

Examples: "She took out her pen and noted something on the paper in front of her." "Her eyes snapped to mine at that quip and her brow tightened."
Here's a good real example. The Dresden Files books are all written in first person. Here's the first one: https://www.amazon.com/Storm-Front-Dresden-Files-Book-ebook/dp/B000WH7PLS Click the picture on the left to open the book, and read the first few paragraphs.
