Do you know what today is? It's the six-month anniversary (monthaversary?) of this community! Six months ago, on January 6, 2022, we opened this community and posted the very first challenge. We're still here, going strong, with 76 challenges under our belt!

Take a look at all you've accomplished. Click on your author tag on the right side (I've tag-wrangled the entire site to make sure it's all consistent) to see everything you've written here. How are you doing? Have you been writing more consistently than you had been before? (For me, yes; I hadn't been consistent at all since the start of the pandemic, but I'm currently totally slacking.) Have you written more than you expected you might in a six-month time frame? (Again, yes, though except for January, I haven't produced much completed work.) Have you learned anything and is your writing improving? (Not sure. I probably haven't improved.) Have you accomplished any writing goals? (I did back in January -- it was to post at least four completed stories, which I did [actually five], but I haven't had any real goals since.)

Take today's challenge to celebrate all your hard work! Write a scene where one character compliments another. It should be heartfelt (not a scene where someone gives a compliment grudgingly or sarcastically), and you should picture yourself being the target of the compliment, because you deserve it! Here's to the next six months!

(Eight and Lucie.  Since it's summer...)

The TARDIS' metal screeching echoed across the beach as it faded into existence.   As the doors opened, the two current occupants: a blonde young woman wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and trainers and a sleepy-eyed young man with short hair in a mangled green suit, steeped carefully onto the beach.

"Well Lucie, I did promise you somewhere nice" the Doctor said.

" Yeah, it's all right" Lucie replied, taking note of the pickle-green sand and light blue water. "Doctor, you sure you got us to the right place? This doesn't look like Blackpool. And it's bleeding cold out here!" Lucie crossed her arms, shivering slightly.

"Lucie, I promised you a holiday," the Doctor noted, pulling a pair of sunglasses and what looked like a deflated beach ball from one pocket. "And we're on Darnillus- most tranquil beach in the galaxy. "

"'s just...I was hoping for, y'know, a bit of sun. " Lucie complained, taking a step and feeling her trainers sink into the sand. "You sure this is an actual beach? We're not gonna have alien crabs or snow monsters or something?"

The Doctor took a break from blowing up the beach ball. "The temperature is part of the ambiance. Guaranteed to be relaxing. Now come on, if you can spot a frozen seashell, Lucie Miller, I'll buy you an ice cream."

Lucie ran towards the water, losing her trainers. "You're on, slow-coach!"
